Dunbar Schedules Free License Plate Replacement Events
7/28/2023
WESTMORELAND COUNTY – Pennsylvania House Republican Caucus Chairman Rep. George Dunbar (R-Westmoreland) today announced he and his staff are hosting free license plate replacement events to assist motorists whose license plates are illegible or difficult to read.

“Constituents often contact the office and ask about getting a license plate replaced and the process is not difficult. This is a way to make it even easier,” said Dunbar. “By having these events with police officers there to verify the license plates need to be replaced, we can make quick work of completing the process.”

The first event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 10, from 4-6 p.m. in the green parking lot at Penn Trafford High School, 3381 PA State Route 130 in Harrison City. The second event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 17, from 3-5 p.m. at Irwin Park at the corner of Main Street and Sweden Alley in Irwin.

The Penn Township Police Department is a co-sponsor for the first event and the North Huntingdon and Irwin police departments are co-sponsors for the second.

A license plate is considered illegible if one or more characters cannot be recognized from 50 feet or if the plate shows blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity. The correct Pennsylvania Department of Transportation forms will be available for plate holders to complete. After verification by a police officer, Dunbar’s staff will handle submitting the forms to order the replacement license plate.

“I can’t thank the departments enough for co-sponsoring the events,” Dunbar said. “Otherwise, folks would have to visit a local police station on their own. These events get everything done in one place.”

Anyone planning to attend should bring with them their unexpired Pennsylvania driver’s license and current vehicle registration card. Staff at Dunbar’s office can answer any questions and can be reached at 724-744-0305.
