HARRISBURG – On Wednesday May 5, PA House Majority Caucus Chairman Rep. George Dunbar (R-Westmoreland) was presented with the 2021 Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf (CEASD) National Champion Award for his work and advocacy on behalf of the deaf and hard of hearing students of Pennsylvania.
This national award is given annually to one elected official in the United States who most effectively champions the needs of deaf students.
Presenters of the award on behalf of the CEASD (pictured from left to right with Dunbar) include Dr. Heidi Ondek, Western PA School for the Blind; Dr. Steve Farmer, Western PA School for the Deaf; Peter Bailey, Pennsylvania School for the Deaf; and Todd Reeves, Overbook School for the Blind.
Founded in 1868, CEASD is committed to the promotion of excellence within a continuum of equitable education opportunities for children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing. Additionally, CEASD serves as an advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing with governmental bodies concerned with the establishment of educational policy and the implementation of legislation.
